Perfect for breakfast or an afternoon boost, this Honey Fig Oat Smoothie is hearty, sweet, and good for you! Figs are high in fiber (both insoluble and soluble). Soluble fiber such as pectin is a prebiotic which promotes the growth of probiotics.
The citrus and herbal taste of cardamom powder shares similar properties to ginger. It may help reduce nausea, acidity, bloating, and heartburn while adding a nice kick to every sip. Oats are a breakfast staple for good reason. They’re packed with fiber, carbs, and protein, helping to keep you fuller for longer.
Bananas have a high potassium content which helps control blood pressure. Almonds are high in both magnesium and antioxidants which may help protect your skin cells and fight against metabolic syndrome and type two diabetes.
And who can forget about the natural sweetness honey has to offer. Not only does it add sweetness to the smoothie, it also contains antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, which can help support and improve the digestive system and boost immunity. Though we suggest using it sparingly in this smoothie depending on how sweet your figs and bananas are!
