NON-GMO PROJECT
To prove our commitment to naturally healthy and delicious products, our entire lineup of probiotic Kefir, and ProBugs™ products have been enrolled in the nonprofit Non-GMO Project.
FARMER PLEDGED MILK
Lifeway only uses milk that comes from grass fed cows that have not been treated with any artificial hormones. No rBGH. No rBST. No rB anything. And no antibiotics, either. This is true of all Lifeway products.
Lifeway encourages all of the farmers and cooperatives who supply us with milk to support efforts that promote the enhanced welfare of cattle, including proper grazing systems, the disuse of artificial growth hormones and responsible dehorning practices. While the practice of dehorning is necessary for the protection and welfare of the cows and the farmers who work with them, we believe polled breeding is a viable future option, eliminating the need for dehorning. We ask that strong consideration be given to promoting the polled option as a sustainable alternative to dehorning throughout your dairy supply chain. Until such time as polled dairy cattle herds are dominant, Lifeway supports the adoption of best management practices, including procedure timing and the use of analgesics and/or anesthetics for dehorning.

We use packaging that is the safest available with materials and processes in our facilities that are as eco-friendly as possible. For us, going green is not just an idle mantra. It is something we back with actions on a daily basis.
BPA FREE PACKAGING
BPA FREE PACKAGING
You may have read about BPA in the news. If so, you know the news is a little scary and looking for products that don’t use BPA in their packaging can be a full-time job. With Lifeway products, you can relax. Our Lifeway Kefir bottles, Helios bottles, and ProBugs pouches are BPA-free, so give them to your loved ones and drink up. All is well.
RECYCLING
RECYCLING
At Lifeway Foods, we are doing everything we can to help kick plastics to the curb. Our Lifeway Kefir bottles are 100% recyclable. Of course, there’s another person in the equation: you. So even though it’s a pain, take the time to throw those bottles in the recycling bin. On behalf of the earth, we thank you.
When recycling isn’t an option, we bring special TerraCycle boxes to create zero-waste recycling solutions for our packaging at events and activations. We also use biodegradable plastics whenever possible, from serve-ware such as cups, spoons, and straws, to napkins which are made from 100% recycled, unbleached paper.
RENEWABLE ENERGY
Since 2006, we've purchase 8,826MWh or 8,826,000KWh RECs per year from Renewable Choice Energy to offset 100% of the electricity used to produce our products. This is equivalent to offsetting 13,757,584 million pounds of CO2 pollution, roughly the same as planting 8,150 acres of trees or removing 1,348 cars from the road.

GLOBAL IMPACT
It’s a small world and we like to think we’re all connected. At Lifeway Foods, we’re not afraid to say that we occasionally think small. In fact, we’re proud of it.
By small, we mean local. As in local farmers and suppliers, whom we like to support in a big way. It helps the communities where we do business, and buying local leads to less packaging being used and fewer emissions from miles being traveled.
But it’s also win-win for us because it allows us to use the freshest ingredients in our Lifeway Kefir products. Lifeway Kefir is all about live and active cultures, so the less time in getting Lifeway Kefir on the shelf means a fresher product for you.
