Our farmer cheese is the perfect replacement to mayo since it offers a rich texture, mild flavor, and it contains gut-friendly live and active cultures. Our farmer cheese cheese is also an excellent source of complete protein and makes the perfect spread for any toast or sandwich recipe that you can mix up with any other condiments or spices to fit the occasion.

For our Farmer Cheese BLT Toast recipe, we topped a toasted piece of bread with a classic lettuce and tomato before adding cooked bacon, cracked black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Feel free to use regular bacon or turkey bacon, and even add chopped boiled eggs to turn this into a Cobb-style BLT toast.

We chose earthy rye bread for its rustic flavor here, but you can use any gluten-free alternative you want. Almond-flour based breads would work nicely here for their natural nutty flavor, or you can go with a classic brown rice-based bread for a milder option.

Feel free to add any other condiments and toppings you want here. For example, dill pickles would be excellent to add a touch of tanginess, or some diced/chopped chives or red onions would be delicious for a savory, slightly spicy option. Love hot sauce? Drizzle some on top for a hint of heat since our Farmer Cheese helps balance everything out.

Directions

  1. Toast the bread, then spread Lifeway Farmer Cheese on top and add a pinch of sea salt and black pepper, then add the cooked bacon on top before topping with the tomato and lettuce pieces. If adding any of the optional toppings, go ahead and add this too.
  2. Press it down slightly with clean hands or a spatula, or add another piece of bread on top to turn it into more of a sandwich. Enjoy!
