Bust out your blender to make a Spiced Fig Smoothie. It’s a warm and spicy blend garnished with Vosges Haut-Chocolat – an elevated chocolate experience made with adaptogens that will liven the senses from the very first sip. In a high-powered blender, add coarsely chopped dried figs, honey, almond and vanilla extract, ground cinnamon and cardamom, sea salt, and our organic whole milk vanilla kefir. Give it a whirl, then add ice and banana, and blend once again until smooth. Fig and banana contain prebiotic fiber, which may aid in digestive health and provide fuel for the 12 live and active probiotic cultures in our vanilla kefir. Pour your smoothie in a glass, top the blend with dried fig, and a sprinkling of Vosges Turmeric Ginger (or Matcha) Chocolate Bar shavings. The results are balanced, earthy, and rich with the perfect touch of sweetness.
Your Gut Matters
Eating habits also play a role in mental health. Research has shown that probiotic-rich foods decrease anxiety and boost the mood. That makes kefir a great wellbeing tool because it contains 12 live and probiotic cultures. Psychiatrist James Greenblatt explained that “‘the gut is really your second brain. There are more neurons in the GI tract than anywhere else except the brain.’” As research continues to develop, it’s becoming more and more apparent that there is a link between the gut and the brain. What was once suspected as one-way communication (brain to gut) is now understood to be more of a two-way system. Thus, the health of our gut may directly impact the health of our minds.
