It’s hard to beat the flavor of a rich, buttery piece of homemade chocolate pecan pie — especially when it comes in the form of a chilly, gut-friendly frozen kefir! Our Chocolate Pecan Pie Frozen Kefir takes Lifeway Lowfat Vanilla Kefir and blends it with banana and cacao powder before chopped pecans and chocolate chips are mixed in. Then low-sugar, crunchy granola is added to mimic the texture of pie crust. Each bite is creamy with the perfect bit of crunchy and is packed with decadent flavor. After a trip to the freezer, this dreamy frozen dessert is ready to enjoy!

Lifeway Kefir is the perfect substitute for heavy cream to use in homemade ice cream recipes, since it’s packed with probiotics to support gut health and is lower in saturated fat. Our kefir is also a natural source of high-quality protein, easy to digest and low in lactose, and is free of gluten and artificial ingredients. In this Chocolate Pecan Pie Frozen Kefir recipe, the nutty warmth of rich pecans, bold cacao, and sweet banana are balanced beautifully by the refreshing, tart taste of our cultured kefir. The little bits of granola mixed into the recipe add the perfect final touch of something special, since they resemble the same textural experience as pieces of pie crust and are layered into each bite. Even better, this recipe is churn-free — no special equipment required. Consider pie season officially upgraded with probiotics and protein from Lifeway!

The Benefits of Cultured Dairy for Better Health:
Research continues to show the importance of eating healthy foods, including cultured dairy such as kefir, for better gut health, a strong immune system, and to support the microbiome. Fermented foods like kefir hold important value in this line of research due to the link between the gut-brain axis and overall health.
Specifically, kefir has been shown to help diversify the microbiome, support the digestive system, reduce inflammation, support healthier blood sugar levels, and improve satiety since the bioavailable protein it contains triggers the release of GLP-1. Lifeway Kefir also contains a variety of nutrients that are vital for healthy bones and overall health, including vitamins D3, K, and B12 along with calcium and potassium. Along with our kefir, we also offer our creamy, cultured Lifeway Farmer Cheese, a high protein cheese made with live and active cultures to support a healthy microbiome that’s easy to spread and contains no added salt or sugar.
