The 2015-2016 Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge kicked off its Innovation Summit yesterday with a Welcome Dinner Beach Party, where we served our famously delicious Hibiscus Frozen Kefir Floats for dessert! Lifeway is proud to be sponsoring this year’s Summit which runs April 20-24 at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida.
The Challenge, “an annual, multi-phase innovation and entrepreneurial competition that brings together a dynamic community of innovators and entrepreneurs,” is only open to high school students. Participants work together in teams of 2-5 members to develop solutions to some of the world’s most complex problems in one of four categories:
- Aerospace & Aviation
- Cyber Technology & Security
- Energy & Environment
- Health & Nutrition
Yesterday was arrival day and the excitement among the students was palpable. After arriving to their hotels and receiving their schedules for the upcoming days, the finalists were ready to have an evening of relaxation and fun. For dessert, they had (as mentioned) Hibiscus Frozen Kefir Floats made with Hibiscus Rhubarb Pie drinkable lowfat kefir and our Original Frozen Kefir.
We also gave out some Lifeway branded frisbees.
Today, the Summit is in full swing with a Welcome by Jack Griem, the Conrad Foundation Board President, and Nancy Conrad, the Founder and Chairman. The Pete Conrad Scholar Finalists were also announced. From there, the students will begin presentations with the Cyber Technology up first!
Not only will we be serving many of our delectable kefir products throughout the Summit, but Lifeway’s very own Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and Nutrition Marketing Coordinator, Emily Kean, will be judging in the Health & Nutrition category tomorrow!
