Kefir Figgy Chia Pudding With Pistachios made with Lifeway Kefir

Kefir makes the perfect base for chia pudding for a few reasons. For one, kefir’s probiotics help aid the digestion of the chia seeds which are rich in fiber and typically take longer to digest on their own. Pairing chia seeds in a base of kefir helps ease some of the work of your digestive system since the cultures assist with the digestive process. Second, as the chia seeds set in the kefir for a few hours or overnight, they soften up and are much easier on your palate as well as your gut (think less chewy and softer in texture).

The fermentation used in Lifeway Kefir may also help your body access the nutrients like magnesium, iron, calcium, and potassium in chia seeds that require optimal digestion for the body to fully utilize. Plus, chia seeds are a natural prebiotic food, and when you pair prebiotic-rich foods with probiotic-rich foods with Lifeway, you’re giving your body a two-for-one punch of gut-healthy goodness.

Pistachios and figs are also powerful superfoods for gut health with each one providing an array of nutrients; these include B vitamins, magnesium, iron, calcium, and potassium. They’re also both high in fiber and excellent to pair with Lifeway Kefir since the probiotics in our kefir will assist your body in digesting and fully utilizing the nutrients and fiber that pistachios and figs contain.

Plus, let’s not forget the protein benefits our kefir adds to chia pudding recipes. While chia seeds do contain protein, they aren’t as high as other bioavailable sources of protein like Lifeway Kefir. So swap the liquid you normally use in your favorite chia pudding with our creamy kefir, and nourish your body from within with each bite. You’ll love the amazing texture kefir provides to your favorite chia pudding recipes and the digestive benefits it brings, too. Eat up!

The Benefits of Cultured Dairy for Better Health:

Research continues to show the importance of eating healthy foods, including cultured dairy such as kefir, for optimal digestion and gut health, a strong immune system, and to support the microbiome. Fermented foods like kefir hold important value in this line of research due to the link between the gut-brain axis and overall health. Specifically, kefir has been shown to help diversify the microbiome, improve digestion, reduce inflammationsupport healthier blood sugar levels, and improve satiety since the bioavailable protein it contains triggers the release of GLP-1.

Lifeway Kefir is packed with a variety of vital nutrients important for overall health, including bone and muscle health; these include vitamin D3, K, calcium, and vitamin B12. Along with our probiotic-rich kefir, Lifeway also offers artisan-made Farmer Cheese, a creamy, high-protein cheese made with live and active cultures to support healthy muscles and a healthy microbiome. Lifeway Farmer Cheese is easy to spread, free of gums and thickeners, and contains no added salt or sugar for optimal health benefits.
