Snack to It: 3 Healthy Kefir Dips to Satisfy Cravings

After a long day of work or school, it’s all too easy to find comfort in and fill your belly with salty snacks and sweet treats. Whether it’s candy or chips, cookies or soda, indulging too much in processed foods can leave you feeling guilty, irritable, anxious and jittery. This of course, can lead you to either skipping dinner or heading for takeout.

Preparation is key when it comes to sticking to a healthy diet and that’s why we always keep our favorite kefir snacks ready and accessible. That way we’re able to skip the cookies and feel good about what we eat when we’re inevitably hit with an attack of the afternoon munchies.

Dip It Good

Strained Lifeway Kefir with Nuts and Seeds


We’re in the habit of straining a bottle or two of kefir on weekends to use in our everyday cooking. We find ways to use it almost every day, including in this easy recipe for Strained Kefir with Fresh Fruit, Nuts and Seeds. With a tart and tangy kefir base and all of the nuts and seeds you desire, it’s a powerhouse of protein and good fat to keep you full until dinner. Serve with sliced apples, pears or your favorite fruit for added prebiotic fiber, too!

!Game Day Guacamole


We’ve yet to meet anyone who doesn’t love guac, but it’s all too easy to get carried away and eat more than you intend to. While avocados are full of beneficial nutrients, fiber and good fat, we cut the calorie load by adding kefir in our fan-favorite Game-day Guacamole. A few chips here and there won’t hurt anyone, but we still generally serve this creamy dip with sliced carrots, peppers and celery.

Get a Little Nutty



Continuing the trend of foods everyone loves but has to be careful with, peanut butter is the ultimate after school (and work) snack. Spread on crackers, celery, bananas or straight from the jar, there’s not much better than a spoonful of peanut butter. Except, of course, our Kefir Peanut Butter Dip. A touch of sweet and a pinch of salt, our Kefir Peanut Butter Dip is the ultimate afternoon (or morning…) treat.
