We blended up our creamy, probiotic-rich kefir with some tropical fruits before spreading the mixture out into our favorite bowls, adding some beautiful toppings, and grabbing a spoon to dig in.

You can also opt for our Lowfat Mango Kefir if you can’t find our whole milk version, or you want a lighter option. Want a boost of collagen? Try our Tropical Fruit Probiotic Smoothie + Collagen variety of kefir. Add any of your choice toppings to create your own version, and feel free to change them up each day to keep things fresh. For this recipe, we went with fresh berries, low sugar granola, and unsweetened coconut flakes. Nuts, seeds, muesli, and other fruits also make great choices!

The Benefits of Cultured Dairy for Better Health:
Research continues to show the importance of eating healthy foods, including cultured dairy such as kefir, for better gut health, a strong immune system, and to support the microbiome. Fermented foods like kefir hold important value in this line of research due to the link between the gut-brain axis and overall health. Specifically, kefir has been shown to help diversify the microbiome, improve digestion, reduce inflammation, and even help support healthier blood sugar levels and improve levels of satiety due to how it triggers the release of GLP-1 since it is an excellent source of protein and high in bioavailable nutrition.
Lifeway Kefir contains a variety of nutrients that are vital for healthy bones and overall health: vitamin D3, K, calcium, and vitamin B12. Lifeway also offers our artisan-made Farmer Cheese, a creamy cultured cheese made with live and active cultures to support a healthy microbiome that is also an excellent source of complete protein.
Prep Time: 5 mins Servings: 2Ingredients
- 2 cups Whole Milk Mango Kefir
- 2 small frozen bananas
- 1 cup frozen mango (or tropical fruit mix)
- 1 tsp. alcohol-free vanilla extract
- optional: juice of an orange or mandarin
- Optional add-ins: collagen peptides, vanilla protein powder of choice, flax or chia seeds, etc.
- Toppings: unsweetened coconut flakes, sliced berries (we used blackberries and strawberries here), and low sugar granola or muesli of choice (We like Purely Elizabeth granola and Bob's Red Mill Muesli.)
Directions
- Add Lifeway Kefir, frozen mango or tropical fruit, and frozen bananas to the blender. Squeeze in the juice of an orange or mandarin if using, the vanilla, and add any optional add-ins if using.
- Blend on low, then progress to high. Use a tamper if your blender has one. If you don't have one, you may need to add an extra splash of kefir to get the blades moving.
- When your blend is complete (it should be very thick), scoop it out into a bowl with a spatula, smooth over the top, and add your favorite toppings.
- Serve immediately or set in the freezer a few minutes to get even thicker/colder. Enjoy!
- Feel free to swap any other flavor of our kefir you like; Lowfat Mango and Lowfat Peach Lifeway Kefir both work well here, as well as any of our Probiotic Smoothie + Collagen kefir line works too.
- Want less sugar? Use our plain kefir in either the lowfat plain or whole milk varieties. All of them work great!
